Weekend trips enliven air in the US

More people flew in the United States last weekend than at any other time since the pandemic paralyzed the air travel industry a year ago. The move served to fuel the hopes of American airline presidents for a recovery. The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) reported yesterday that about 2.57 M passengers passed through airport checkpoints over the weekend. About 1.36 M traveled on Friday, making that day the best for the industry since March 15, 2020, when the country began implementing a wave of lockdowns in response to the spread of covid-19 – although that represents 46% fewer passengers than in the same period in 2019. The weekend numbers were the highest in the air travel industry in a year, as some states began to ease restrictions and college students traveled for spring break . The drop in the number of infections and the fast pace of vaccination have also increased the confidence of some Americans that the worst of the pandemic may be behind them. – https://valor.globo.com/empresas/noticia/2021/03/16/viagens-do-fim-de-semana-animam-aereas-nos-eua.ghtml
