Gurulhos International Airport, in greater Sao Paulo, handled 9.7 million passengers in the first quarter of 2023, which represents 89% of 2019 levels, when 10.9 million passed through the terminals. Compared to the same period a year earlier, it means a growth of 24.6%. Landings and takeoffs totaled 65,700 operations, a daily average of 730 flights. In the quarter ended in March, the month of January recorded the highest number of departures and arrivals, with 3.5 million people passing through the Guarulhos terminals. In March, 3.2 million travelers were counted, while in February, around 2.9 million people passed through the area. Domestic operations at the country’s largest airport represented 67.4% of the volume of passenger traffic registered in the quarter, while the international segment was responsible for 33.6% of all traffic. Still in the first quarter, Guarulhos was recently elected the sixth best airport in South America, at the World Airports Awards 2023, an award held by the British consultancy Skytrax. The award considers the evaluation of passengers on the quality standards of facilities, services, and structure available in more than 550 airports around the world. Guarulhos International Airport currently has flights to 107 destinations, 54 domestic and 53 international. In the national market, the most popular cities in the period were Rio de Janeiro, Recife, and Porto Alegre. Among the destinations abroad, services to Buenos Aires, Santiago de Chile, and Miami were the most popular. – https://aeromagazine.uol.com.br/artigo/aeroporto-de-guarulhos-atinge-89-dos-niveis-de-2019.html
