Airports will have their boarding system by facial recognition

Conceived by the Ministry of Infrastructure through the Brazilian Civil Aviation Secretariat (SAC) in partnership with Serpro, the passenger identification program through facial recognition should start to be implemented at airports soon. According to Agencia Estado, the pilot project will be tested at the Florianopolis airport from September. If the test shows good results, the expectation is that the technology will start to be used in more airports by the beginning of 2022. Today, checks at airports are done in two stages: one to enter the security area, where the passenger validates their boarding pass and passes x-ray machines; and another at the time of boarding, in which the attendant checks the ticket and the ID document. With the new technology, both processes will be performed by facial biometrics machines, without the need to check documents. The airport system will cross the biometric recognition of the machine with the selfie taken by the customer at the time of check-in, which can be carried out via cell phone. The identity verification by facial recognition will be made possible by a program developed by Serpro, which uses databases from federal agencies. In the future, the idea is also to have access to the records of documents issued by the States. – https://www.panrotas.com.br/aviacao/tecnologia/2020/07/aeroportos-terao-sistema-de-embarque-por-reconhecimento-facial_175398.html
