Azul tied with Gol in market share of domestic flights, according to data from Brazil’s Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC in Portuguese). In August, Azul’s market share reached 35.4% and Gol’s share was 35.5%. Latam closed August with 28.2%. Last month, the demand for flights to domestic destinations fell 67.5% compared to August 2019. The supply of seats, in turn, fell by 64.6% in the month. As a result, the average flight occupancy rate was 75.8%, down 8% from the same period last year. In all, 2.2 M passengers were transported in the month, a number 72.1% lower than that registered a year earlier. In terms of cargo volume, airlines transported 24.7 thousand tons in Brazil, a number 34.5% lower than that registered in August 2019.
