Gol discusses with ANAC to postpone the landing and takeoff time cancellation rule

Gol’s president, Paulo Kakinoff, pointed out that the company is talking to Brazil’s Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC, in Portuguese) to extend the measure (“waiver”) that abolishes the cancellation of slots (arrival and departure times at coordinated airports) calculation of the regularity index for obtaining historical rights by airlines. Basically, the rule stipulates that if the company stops using a slot, it will lose it. The rule is important when guaranteeing the periodicity of the service, but it has been waived in this period of pandemic due to the low demand. If the rule were in effect, companies would have to continue flying with empty planes in order not to lose their schedules. “We have new conversations with the authorities. We are all going to need the waiver to be applied, ”he said. “We believe that we are going to have something related to this”, defended Kakinoff. In March, ANAC suspended the rule until 10/30/2021. The idea is to get more time with the regulator, since the scenario of resumption of the air market is still an uncertainty. The measure was a global demand in the sector, and was adopted by regulators in several countries around the world. – https://valor.globo.com/empresas/noticia/2021/03/18/gol-discute-com-anac-adiar-regra-de-cancelamento-de-horario-de-pouso-e-decolagem.ghtml
