Emirates to use Boeing 777 with sustainable fuel in test flight
Emirates and GE Aviation signed a preliminary agreement to develop a program that will use a Boeing 777-300ER equipped with GE90 engines in a test flight, operating on 100% Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) by the end of 2022. Currently, the approved version for use is a blend of petroleum-derived Jet A or Jet A-1 fuel with one component with a maximum blend limit of 50%. The demonstration flight is one of the two companies’ efforts to reduce CO2 emissions as the industry seeks to increase the use of SAF. Authorities will collaborate to secure experimental certification approvals and coordinate pre- and post-flight requirements with airframe, auxiliary power unit (APU) and original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) manufacturers, in addition to working with SAF suppliers in the procurement and delivery logistics. – https://aeromagazine.uol.com.br/artigo/emirates-usara-boeing-777-com-combustivel-sustentavel-em-voo-de-testes_7353.html
