Airline to invest heavily in zero-emission engines in regional aviation

United Airlines will be the largest airline to invest in zero-emission hydrogen electric engines for regional aircraft in the world, with the purchase of a percentage stake in ZeroAvia, a company focused on hydrogen electric aviation solutions. With this move, United plans to acquire up to 100 new all-electric, zero-emission hydrogen engines (ZA2000-RJ) from the company, which may be adapted to the aircraft in the United Express fleet as early as 2028, in addition to being another step towards achieving its goal of being a 100% green company by 2050, without relying on traditional carbon offsets. ZeroAvia is accelerating the development of the ZA2000 engine, and will soon begin ground testing of a smaller version, the ZA600, in a 19-seat aircraft, with the goal of entering commercial service by 2024. The company’s project requires it to develop Hydrogen electric propulsion for progressively larger aircraft. – https://aeromagazine.uol.com.br/artigo/companhia-aerea-investira-pesado-em-motores-emissao-zero-na-aviacao-regional_7519.html
