Embraer seeks partnerships with start-ups to develop sustainable technologies

Embraer concluded its first “Start-Up Day” with the aim of encouraging start-ups with the most innovative technologies to join the Família Energia’s sustainable flight initiative. Embraer’s intention is to select organizations to collaborate with the Família Energia (Energy Family), to develop technologies with the greatest potential to face the challenges of the climate crisis, considering that start-ups have a significant role in solving certain obstacles. At the first meeting, 16 organizations from around the world presented their technologies to the Familia Energia team, each focusing on one of four critical areas: electric and hybrid powertrain, fuel cells, hydrogen storage, and battery technology. In the coming months, the Familia Energia team will explore these opportunities and intends to make the first selection in the third quarter of 2022. Carlos Ilario, Embraer’s Head of Innovation in Zero Emissions, said, “To face the climate challenge, it is essential to encourage all of innovation, not just relying on traditional players. Embraer has a natural affinity for agile innovators, and we believe that the growth of the ecosystem of small tech-savvy start-ups has a huge contribution to make – when given the opportunity. We do not underestimate the scale of the challenge. Some of the technologies necessary for aviation have yet to be discovered, so it is essential to harness all the talent available in the world to find answers that work, are accessible and practical in the real world.” – Embraer busca parcerias com start-ups para desenvolver tecnologias sustentáveis – AEROFLAP
