4th edition of the Action Plan to reduce CO2 emissions in aviation published

With the objective of contributing to the efforts of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) in reducing the impact of civil aviation and in meeting the goals related to climate change, Brazil published the 4th edition of the Action Plan for the reduction of CO2 emissions . The document is the result of a joint effort between Brazil’s Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC) and the Civil Aviation Secretariat (SAC), of the Ministry of Infrastructure (Minfra), and provides a diagnosis of the performance of Brazilian civil aviation in terms of impact on climate change, as well as the proposed actions to mitigate greenhouse gas emissions. The current edition has, for the first time, ANAC’s responsive regulation programs in the environmental field: Sustainable Airports and SustentAr, initiatives that aim to promote the adoption of good environmental practices at national airports, airlines, and air shuttle companies. Initiatives to reduce emissions through operational improvements and market measures are also addressed, such as the Mechanism for Compensating for CO2 Emissions from International Air Transport (CORSIA) and the Renovabio Program. The partnership between SAC and ANAC for sustainability issues began in 2013, the year in which the first edition of the action plan was launched. Since then, updates have taken place in 2016 and 2019, which improved the calculation methodologies and included new initiatives to reduce emissions. – https://aeroin.net/publicada-a-4o-edicao-do-plano-de-acao-para-reducao-de-emissoes-co2-na-aviacao/
