Emirates celebrates 15 years of operations in Brazil
Emirates is celebrating 15 years of connections between Brazil and Dubai and with other regions of the world. Since October 2007, when Emirates launched its flights to Brazil, more than 3.6 M passengers have enjoyed the airline’s services on flights to and from two cities in Brazil: Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. Emirates’ first flight to Sao Paulo, EK261, made history not only for marking the beginning of the airline’s operations in South America, but also for making Emirates the forerunner of the Middle East-South America connection. The airline introduced the first direct flights between the two regions, making Brazil the gateway to South America, including for travelers in Uruguay, Paraguay, Chile, and Peru. In 2012, Emirates started operations to the second city in Brazil, Rio de Janeiro. Over the past 15 years, Emirates has maintained a strong commitment to the market, the development of the aviation industry and Brazilian travelers exploring the world. Emirates plays an important role in promoting the country’s tourism, having transported travelers to Brazil from ten prestigious locations: mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan, Thailand, South Korea, India, Lebanon, Philippines, and Singapore. These are also the main international destinations for passengers from Brazil transported by Emirates during the same period. Brazilians do not need a visa to visit Dubai. Emirates SkyCargo has also played an important role in connecting Brazil to the world, transporting over 57,000 tonnes of export products since the start of operations, including food, perishables, spare parts, and pharmaceuticals. In the same period, Emirates helped import more than 62,000 tonnes of cargo into South America’s largest country including important goods such as electronics, mobile phones, pharmaceuticals, and automotive spare parts. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Emirates Skycargo created the world’s largest hub to distribute COVID-19 vaccines and was the first airline to transport doses of AstraZeneca vaccine to Brazil in January 2021. – https://www.aeroflap.com.br/emirates-comemora-15-anos-de-operacoes-no-brasil/
