Chamber of Deputies debates investments in airports in the country’s Southern Bloc

On 11/09, the Tourism Commission of the Chamber of Deputies will hold a public hearing to discuss the investment plans for the South Block of airports. The block is formed by the airports of Curitiba, PR, Foz do Iguacu, PR, Navegantes, SC, Londrina, PR, Joinville, SC, Bacacheri, PR, Pelotas, RS, Uruguaiana, RS, and Bage, RS. Together, the South Block terminals transported around 12.4 M passengers in 2019. The forecast is that, in 30 years, the sum of passengers transported by these airports will reach around 27 M per year. The auction held last year secured BRL 2.85 MM in investments for nine airports in the region, and the objective of the meeting is to clarify how the investment plans in the airports of Joinville and Navegantes will be carried out, and how the company that won the auction will handle the relationship between airports currently in surplus and in deficit.
