Air Force and ICAO hold meeting on operational safety in aviation in the Americas
This year, the Brazilian Air Force is hosting three important meetings of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO / ICAO), which are being held throughout this week from November 14th to 18th, in the auditorium of the Centro Militar de Convenções e Hospedagem da Aeronáutica (CEMCOHA), in Salvador (BA). The first of these was the 12th Plenary Meeting of the Regional Aviation Safety Group of the Americas (RASG-PA, from the English Regional Aviation Safety Group – Pan American), officially opened on the morning of the 14th, during which issues related to the Operational Security. Since 2008, RASG-PA integrates regional efforts to establish cooperative activities that reduce burdens and enable the delivery of services and measurable improvements in the area of operational security in the region. The event, which has Atech, Embraer, Frequentis, IACIT, Saipher and SITA as supporters, was opened by the Regional Director of the ICAO Office in South America (SAM), Fábio Rabbani, who thanked everyone for their presence and highlighted the importance of being able to meet face-to-face for the first time since the pandemic, which canceled so many air operations in the last two years. Opening the works of the second day of the Meeting, the Deputy Director of the SAM Workshop, Oscar Quesada, highlighted the relevance of the exchange between the countries of South, Central and North America with regard to the implementation of actions at regional levels. “Opening space for reflection, breaking barriers and bringing about respectful debate is crucial for us to achieve our goals and this group has been hesitant to be able to maintain this dialogue,” said Quesada. The FAA representative, Gerardo Hueto, once again highlighted the importance of measuring Operational Safety activities, monitoring indicators and sharing knowledge. “More than using data, we work with information”, he commented. As of this Wednesday, the 16th, the 20th edition of the Meeting of the Regional Planning and Implementation Group for the Caribbean and South America (GREPECAS) will begin, held regularly since 1991. – https://aeroin.net/forca-aerea-e-oaci-realizam-reuniao-sobre-seguranca-operacional-na-aviacao-das-americas/
