Viracopos sets a new passenger movement record

Viracopos airport, in Campinas, handled 11.8 million passengers during the year 2022, a historic record for the air terminal in the countryside of Sao Paulo. The old record was registered in 2019, when 10.5 million travelers passed through the place. The number of passengers in 2022 represents a growth of 17.92% compared to 2021, when 10 million people passed through Viracopos airport. In addition to the annual record, Viracopos also recorded the month with the best performance in its history, in December, when 1,084,333 customers boarded or disembarked at the terminal, an increase of 6.60% compared to a previous year. The movement of aircraft in Viracopos totaled 128,341 flights in 2022, an increase of 21.86% compared to 2021, when 105,320 operations were carried out. The data also represents a historical record of aircraft. In December, the airport recorded a 23.9% increase compared to the pre-sanitary crisis period, with a total of 11,527 flights carried out in December, surpassing the number of operations carried out in 2019.
