Roadmap proposal launched to handle operations in airspace above 55,000 feet

The European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) has published a ‘Proposal for a Roadmap for Operations in Higher Airspace Operations’, exploring the challenges of future operations in airspace above flight level 55,000 feet (FL550), or about 17 thousand meters of altitude (Stratosphere). As Higher Airspace Operations (HAO) can pose safety, security, and environmental risks, EASA created a Task Force comprising European Member States, the European Defense Agency (EDA) and the European Union for the Safety of Air Navigation (Eurocontrol). This Roadmap summarizes the work carried out by the Task Force team over the past two years to ensure a uniform approach to the safety, security, and sustainability of air transport in the European Union in this domain as well. This document recommends a series of progressive actions, focusing initially on studies, tests and demonstrators, to enable the first operations in Higher Airspace Operations (not yet existing on a large scale in Europe), while learning from them to optimally design the future regulatory framework. – https://aeroin.net/lancada-proposta-de-roteiro-para-lidar-com-as-operacoes-no-espaco-aereo-acima-de-55-mil-pes/
