Sao Paulo International Airport is among the most punctual in the world
Guarulhos International Airport, in greater Sao Paulo, was the fifth most punctual in the world, according to data from the performance report by Cirium, the main aviation data and analysis company. According to the survey, of the 22,402 flights monitored at Guarulhos airport, 79.32% took off within the scheduled time. A flight is considered punctual when it arrives at its destination or when it takes off less than 15 minutes before the scheduled time. The terminal managed by GRU Airport surpassed Haneda, in Tokyo, recognized last year as the most punctual in the world. As the largest airport in the country, Guarulhos handled 157,411 aircraft in the first seven months of the year, or a daily average of 742 flights, an increase of 17.5% in the annual comparison, but 5.6% below the 166,810 landings and takeoffs carried out in 2019, one year before the health crisis. The number of passengers between January and July was 23,307,923, equivalent to 96.6% of the volume registered in 2019, when 24,383,344 were transported. Of the ten most punctual airports in the world in July, four are in Asia, four in North America, and two in South America.
