ATR completes tests with Starlink to put high-speed internet on its regional planes

ATR is raising the standards of air travel by introducing high-speed internet connectivity onboard its planes. Following successful test flights with the ATR 72-600 test aircraft in recent months, the Starlink satellite internet solution has recently been certified by the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA). Air New Zealand, a long-time partner of ATR, will be the inaugural customer, bringing the internet to its domestic flights from 2025. The project is the result of a collaboration with PMV Engineering, which developed the modifications necessary for certification from the Starlink airport on ATR aircraft. This technology is now available as a retrofit option for the ATR 72-500 and 72-600 models, accessible to all ATR operators through a Supplemental Type Certificate (STC). Developed by SpaceX, Starlink is the world’s first and largest satellite constellation, operating in low Earth orbit to provide broadband internet capable of supporting streaming, online gaming, video calls, and more. – https://aeroin.net/atr-conclui-testes-com-a-starlink-para-colocar-internet-de-alta-velocidade-em-seus-avioes-regionais/
