Brazilian students take rocket and satellite to aerospace competition in the USA

Students from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) and the State University of Rio de Janeiro (UERJ) will represent Brazil in the International Rocket Engineering Challenge (IREC), one of the largest aerospace competitions in the world. The event will take place from June 9 to 14, 2025, in Texas, United States. The Rio de Janeiro Rocket Group (GFRJ) will compete in the competition with the Vulkano rocket. On board will be a nanosatellite developed by the UERJ Sats team, which will participate in the Payload Challenge, a parallel competition focused on satellite payloads. To make their participation possible, the students are organizing a fundraiser to cover expenses for transportation, lodging, food, and technical equipment. Quimatic, a specialty chemicals company, is one of the project’s supporters. “We believe in the transformative power of science and education”, says Walter Strebinger, president of Quimatic. “Therefore, we consider it essential to encourage new generations of scientists and engineers, supporting projects that drive technological development and benefit society.” The company provides financial support and chemical solutions for the UERJ Sats team. The nanosatellite developed for IREC will be produced in aluminum and will use Quimatic’s cutting fluid in the machining operations. – https://aeromagazine.uol.com.br/artigo/estudantes-brasileiros-levam-foguete-e-satelite-para-competicao-aeroespacial-nos-eua.html
