DECEA partners with Google for AI-powered weather forecasting

The Department of Airspace Control (Decea), through the Institute of Airspace Control (ICEA), signed Partnership Agreement #001/2025 with Google LLC on August 26, marking a historic step in the integration of technological innovation and Brazilian air traffic safety. The project aims to develop a Nowcasting Precipitation Forecasting Program using Artificial Intelligence (AI). The initiative involves the creation of an algorithm capable of processing volumetric data from weather radars stored at ICEA, enabling short-term forecasting of precipitation that impacts landings and takeoffs. According to ICEA Director, Colonel Carlos de Oliveira Zica, the partnership represents not only a technological advancement, but also a legacy of cooperation. “It is an honor to establish this collaboration with an institution of Google’s stature on ICEA’s 65th anniversary, aligning our mission of promoting airspace safety and efficiency with the expertise of one of the world’s largest technology companies. This is the first of many projects that will certainly bring direct benefits to society”, he highlighted. – https://aeroin.net/decea-firma-parceria-com-google-para-previsao-meteorologica-com-auxilio-de-ia/
