Avianca graduates 1st class of female pilots and provides scholarships
On its 104th anniversary, Avianca concludes, for the first time, an exclusive course for female pilots and launches the “O Céu é Delas” program, offering 20 scholarships to aspiring pilots throughout Colombia, with an investment of approximately USD 900,000 (BRL 4.4 M). Twelve women from different regions of the country obtained their commercial pilot licenses, joining the Avianca pilot team. Additionally, the program will award scholarships to an additional 20 women, covering both ground and flight training, and providing opportunities to study at prominent aviation schools located in Bogota, Medellin, Barranquilla, Cali, and Villavicencio. Maria Carolina Cortes Arce, Vice President of Corporate Communications, highlighted the company’s commitment to supporting female talent, mentioning more than 5,600 women who already contribute to the airline. The scholarship application process, which begins on January 9, 2024, will be accessible through the official Avianca jobs page and imposes specific requirements such as Colombian citizenship, high school diploma, English proficiency at level B2, and an own text detailing the applicant’s motivation to become a pilot and the perceived contributions of women to the aviation industry. – https://aeroin.net/avianca-forma-1o-turma-de-mulheres-pilotos-e-da-bolsas-de-estudo/
