Airline industry associations recommend flexible rules for the use of slots

The Worldwide Airport Slot Board, formed by the International Airports Council (ACI World), the International Air Transport Association (IATA) and the World Group of Airport Coordinators (WWACG), released on 11/26 a joint recommendation to governments to maintain more flexible rules for the use of landing and takeoff times (“slots”) until the summer season in the Northern Hemisphere, which ends in October. For the entities, the more flexible rules will guarantee the essential connectivity of air transport. Regulatory agencies around the world have lifted the rules for granting slots for the year 2020, to give the sector space to operate during the pandemic. The council recommends that the return of slots, which would be made in February 2021, be postponed to April 2022. And the limit for flight delays and cancellations, now 20%, be increased to 50% in April 2021. – https://valor.globo.com/empresas/noticia/2020/11/26/associaes-do-setor-areo-recomendam-regras-flexveis-para-uso-de-slots.ghtml
