Viracopos registers a 12.8% increase in passenger movement

Viracopos International Airport, in Campinas, SP, closed the first four months of the year with a 12.8% increase in passenger traffic compared to the same period last year, consolidating an indication of a gradual resumption of travel through the terminal by airlines. In the period, 2.8 M people embarked or disembarked through Viracopos, compared to 2.5 M in the same period in 2020. Considering only April, the increase reaches 340.9%, since the month in 2020 registered a great impact generated by pandemic, with only 145.3 K passengers, compared to 641 K passengers in April this year. The growth in passenger movement at the terminal is centered on trips made within Brazil, as international travel continues with several restrictions. If only international travel is considered, the drop is 86% in relation to the first four months of 2020. This year, 34.1 K people embarked or disembarked from abroad by Viracopos, compared to 246.2 K passengers in the first four-month period of 2020. For Viracopos Operations Director, Marcelo Mota, the expectation is that Viracopos will recover in 2021 the drop in passenger movement registered last year because of the pandemic. – https://www.panrotas.com.br/aviacao/aeroportos/2021/05/viracopos-registra-alta-de-128-na-movimentacao-de-passageiros_181502.html
