Qatar Airways celebrates 26% growth in 2021, far above the market average
Qatar Airways reports that it was the number 2 airline globally in demand – Paying Passengers times Revenue Passenger Kilometers (RPKs) – in 2021, with 6% market share, according to IATA (International Air Transport Association) data. The company also celebrates having grown 26% compared to 2020, with the sector growing by only 1%. Even in 2020, after the start of the pandemic, the airline also remained one of the biggest operators of RPKs. During the entire pandemic period, the airline was the only airline flying consistently, and now operated to more destinations with more weekly flights (almost 1,500 flights) than any other airline in the region. Qatar Airways has also significantly increased its portfolio to 145 destinations, especially in the United States, where it now operates to 12 cities with nearly 100 flights a week, including the newly added San Francisco and Seattle. It also focused heavily on expansion into Africa with the addition of new routes to Abuja, Abidjan, Accra, Harare, Kano, Lusaka, and Port Harcourt, firmly consolidating the importance of Africa to the airline. In addition to these new additions, Qatar will return to Arabian Travel Market 2022, taking place May 9-12 in Dubai, to present the “World’s Best Business Class Seat”, Qsuite, and a Virtual Reality experience from Hamad International Airport – recently elected the “Best Airport in the World”. – https://aeroin.net/qatar-airways-comemora-crescimento-de-26-em-2021-muito-acima-da-media-do-mercado/
