For the first time in aviation, a plane will have 100% sustainable fuel in the tank
Following the announcement late last year, regional turboprop maker ATR has confirmed that a historic flight is being scheduled to take place in Sweden, particularly linking Malmö and Bromma airports, soon. ATR did not mention a date for such, but only said that it is close and that it will be carried out in conjunction with the airline Braathens. It will be the first flight in the history of commercial aviation with an engine 100% powered by SAF, the sustainable fuel, developed from non-fossil inputs. The companies intend to do the demonstration flight with one of Braathens Regional Airlines’ ATR aircraft flying at 100% SAF on one engine, and 50% SAF on the other, for an anticipated emissions reduction of 64%. An ATR flying on 100% sustainable jet fuel in both engines is expected to reduce CO2 emissions by 82% if flying one of Braathens Regional Airlines’ typical routes. – https://aeroin.net/pela-primeira-vez-na-aviacao-um-aviao-tera-100-de-combustivel-sustentavel-no-tanque/
