Viracopos Airport records the best month of September in history with more than 1 M passengers

The Viracopos International Airport in Campinas, SP, recorded the best month of September in history with 1,008,182 passengers and follows the high trend presented throughout this year, with the expectation of reaching a new record in 2022, with more than 11.5 M passengers a year. The best September had been recorded in 2021, with 917,335 passengers, followed by the month of September 2019, with 857,646 people. The busiest month of 2022 so far is July, which is traditionally a high season month, which had 1,058,194 passengers. On average, 35,000 people board or disembark daily through the passenger terminal. As proof of the constant improvements in infrastructure, Viracopos received again from SAC (Secretariat of Civil Aviation), last March, the annual award for Best in Brazil in 2021 in its category. “The positive results in these first nine months of 2022 indicate that Viracopos will be able to surpass the important mark of 11.5 million passengers this year, precisely in the year in which the concessionaire Aeroportos Brasil Viracopos completes ten years of concession. As a result, the airport continues to invest in improvements to operate with efficiency, safety, and agility as one of the best Brazilian airports”, said the CEO of Viracopos, Gustavo Müssnich. 68,724 people embarked or disembarked on international trips through Viracopos compared to 16,576 in September last year. In the accumulated of the first nine months of 2022, the increase in international passengers was 327.17%, with 494,369 passengers compared to 115,732 from January to September of last year, but a number still below that seen in the pre-pandemic period. Today, Viracopos has daily flights to and from Fort Lauderdale (USA), Orlando (USA), and Lisbon (POR).
