Latam used sustainable fuel on the delivery flight of the 18th Airbus A320neo
Continuing with its commitment to sustainability, Latam highlights the delivery flight of the 18th Airbus A320neo, the first to use sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). The aircraft, registered PR-XBN, flew between the Airbus factory in Toulouse, France, and Fortaleza, Ceara, with 30% SAF derived from recycled cooking oil and mixed with traditional fuel. According to data from the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), the amount of 30% of the SAF incorporated into the fuel used in the flight has a reduction factor of approximately 80% of the CO2 life cycle, when compared to aviation kerosene (QAV) conventional. “This flight is the result of the synergy of work between Latam and Airbus, and represents one of the most concrete advances of the group in its AFS use agenda. Access to this fuel in South America remains one of the great challenges facing decarbonization of the industry”, comments Ramiro Alfonsín, CFO of Grupo Latam. Latam’s goal is to become a carbon neutral company by 2050. The carrier currently operating in Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Peru, and Ecuador has 1,500 daily flights to 147 destinations in 24 countries. – https://aeromagazine.uol.com.br/artigo/latam-utilizou-combustivel-sustentavel-no-voo-de-entrega-do-18o-airbus-a320neo.html
