To discuss decarbonization of the Brazilian airline industry, ABEAR and IATA meet with the MDIC

The Brazilian Airlines Association (ABEAR, in Portuguese) participated on July 7, together with the International Air Transport Association (IATA), in a meeting with the secretary of Green Economy, Decarbonization, and Bioindustry of the Ministry of Development, Industry, Commerce, and Services (MDIC, also in Portuguese), Rodrigo Rollemberg, and with the Director of Decarbonization and Green Finance, Marcelo Dourado. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the current decarbonization scenario in the airline industry, especially in the large-scale production of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) in Brazil and the regulation of the carbon credit market. Among the points addressed, the international commitments assumed by the airline sector for decarbonization (NET Zero by 2050) and the measures that are necessary to achieve environmental goals were presented. ABEAR and IATA highlighted the initiatives that airlines already carry out to reduce emissions, such as testing neutral routes and adopting new technologies for greater operational efficiency, but reinforced the role of the Federal Government so that Brazil has a policy on the subject. – https://aeroin.net/para-discutir-descarbonizacao-do-setor-aereo-brasileiro-abear-e-iata-se-reunem-com-o-mdic/
