Guarulhos Airport signs an air cargo partnership with the Belgian airport of Liège

Between January and June 2023, GRU Airport handled 142,600 tons of cargo. Of this total, approximately 67.3 thousand tons represent imported items, with 655.6 tons of cargo processed through courier warehouses. In turn, exports totaled 75.3 thousand tons handled, of which 1,256.6 tons were processed in the same warehouses. In the month of June alone, 23.3 thousand tons were handled, of which 11.1 thousand tons were imported cargo and 12.2 thousand tons were exported to the five continents. GRU Airport and Liège Airport, Belgium, signed an agreement for strategic development plans for air cargo business. The partnership aims to create cargo HUBs, respectively in South America and Europe, and seeks to promote common business, bring local partners closer together, and increase cargo volumes moved between both airports, in addition to sharing best practices in airport management and operation. Liège Airport is located in the city of Liège, in the Wallonia region, east of Belgium and is the third most important Belgian airport. It is located between Paris, Amsterdam, and Frankfurt, and has great relevance in cargo transport in Europe.
