Brazil and the United States signed an agreement for the certification of eVTOLs
Brazil’s Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC) and the United States Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) signed an agreement for the certification of electric vertical takeoff and landing vehicles (eVTOLs). The letter of intent was signed during a meeting of the Certification Management Team (CMT) 2023, in Sao Paulo, on the 17th. According to ANAC, the agreement formalizes the intention of joint action between civil aviation authorities to build the aircraft certification, with sharing of experiences and collaborative work. The expectation is that eVTOLs will bring improvements in air transport over small and medium distances, greater integration with cities, lower noise levels, and alignment with sustainable practices, which provide for zero pollutant emissions. Last Wednesday (25), Midnight, a model from the North American manufacturer Archer Aviation, made its first flight. Its certification by the FAA is scheduled for 2024 and commercial operations are expected to begin in 2025, a year earlier than expected for the aircraft from Eve, a subsidiary of Brazilian Embraer. – https://aeromagazine.uol.com.br/artigo/brasil-e-estados-unidos-firmaram-acordo-para-certificacao-de-evtols.html
