Regulation of licenses for eVTOLs is the subject of public consultation
Brazil’s Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC) opened a public consultation on May 22 to collect comments and suggestions on a new regulatory proposal. The objective is to establish standards for issuing licenses and qualifications for aircraft with vertical takeoff and landing, known as eVTOL. Sector Consultation #03/2024 sets out ANAC’s current view on how the first pilots of these new aircraft can be qualified. The agency hopes that society’s suggestions will help define the training criteria and theoretical and practical requirements for candidates, thus contributing to the drafting of final legislation on the topic. One of the main proposals is the creation of a new category of licenses, VCA (VTOL Capable Aircraft). This initiative is similar to the proposal currently being developed by Europe’s aviation regulatory agency (EASA). Among the topics that will be debated in the public consultation are the procedures for obtaining the type license, the requirements for pilots already qualified with commercial airplane and helicopter pilot licenses, the criteria for candidates with no flying experience, and the requirements for flight training for accredited instructors and examiners. – https://aeromagazine.uol.com.br/artigo/regulamentacao-de-licencas-para-os-evtol-e-tema-de-consulta-publica.html
