Lilium and GE Aerospace sign agreement to work on flight safety for eVTOL aircraft
With electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft poised to take off commercially in the coming years, GE Aerospace is partnering with Lilium, a German manufacturer of electric Regional Air Mobility (RAM) aircraft, to build a solid safety foundation for this new mode of travel. The two companies announced on October 23 that they are merging their respective flight data and analytics platforms to develop scalable flight data management solutions that inform appropriate safety standards and guidelines for eVTOL operators. GE’s Event Measurement System (EMS) platform will be a critical digital component of Lilium’s comprehensive “POWER-ON” aftermarket offering, which provides safe, efficient, and customer-centric solutions for Lilium Jet operators. All Lilium customers will have access to a range of digital services to support their daily operations with critical insights and data. eVTOLs are already flying at dedicated demonstration and testing sites around the world, and the first deliveries of the Lilium Jet to customers are scheduled for 2026. The market is projected to grow to up to USD1 trillion by the year 2040, according to JP Morgan. “Aviation regulators in Europe and the US are rightly setting the highest standard for eVTOLs to meet safety standards and regulations”, said Andrew Coleman, General Manager of GE Aerospace’s Software as a Service (SaaS) Group. – https://aeroin.net/lilium-e-ge-aerospace-assinam-acordo-para-trabalharem-na-seguranca-de-voo-das-aeronaves-evtol/
