Latin America and the Caribbean emerge as the new frontier for the growth of global aviation, say expert
After the ALTA AGM & Airline Leaders Forum, an event held at the beginning of the week by the Latin American and Caribbean Air Transport Association (ALTA) in the Bahamas, Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) emerge as the new frontier for the growth of global aviation, presenting immense potential for connectivity and attraction of international tourists. Over the past 20 years, the region’s airlines have increased the number of passengers carried by more than 250%, and the supply of domestic and international routes has grown by more than 30. During ALTA’s Annual General Meeting (AGM), experts discussed how the region’s rich diversity and cultural offerings can make it a standout destination for visitors from around the world. Moderated by Alex de Gunten, from HEICO, the panel brought together industry leaders to discuss strategies that strengthen the flow of intra-regional tourism and attract even more visitors from abroad. Currently, 75% of international traffic is made up of tourists who do not belong to LAC, which highlights the opportunity for growth. The positive impact of connectivity on the development of regional tourism was reinforced by Ahmet Olmustur, COO of Turkish Airlines, “We operate in 130 countries, which allows us to collaborate with various authorities and add value to any destination. Our experience has taught us that by working together, we can significantly increase the number of flights and connect even more people.” Turkish Airlines is expanding its operations in the region, with plans for new routes in cities such as Santiago, Chile, and Lima, Peru. – https://aeroin.net/a-america-latina-e-o-caribe-emergem-como-a-nova-fronteira-para-o-crescimento-da-aviacao-global-afirmam-especialista/
