New SISSAR functionality goes into operation and issues an alert before an air accident occurs

On January 15, 2025, the new Brazilian Mission Control Center (MCC) system began to officially operate the SGB signal (second generation beacons). This system has the ability to alert pilots even before an air accident occurs, indicating that rescue coordination has begun and that the rescue is already on its way. In Brazil, the majority of emergency equipment installed on aircraft is still first generation (FGB). Recently, the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) recommended that, from 2025, all aircraft manufactured be equipped with second generation beacons (SGB). The SGB was officially implemented in 2024 and, until then, only the MCCs in the United States, France, and Australia had certification to handle alerts from this type of equipment. Now, Brazil returns to a prominent position and reference in modernization and excellence, being the fourth MCC in the world to process SGB data. The Brazilian Search and Rescue System (SISSAR) is managed by the Brazilian Air Force (FAB) and aims to rescue people involved in air or sea accidents. SISSAR operates in partnership with COSPAS-SARSAT, an international emergency equipment location system. – https://aeroin.net/nova-funcionalidade-do-sissar-entra-em-operacao-e-emite-alerta-antes-de-um-acidente-aereo-ocorrer/
