Private investments in airport infrastructure total BRL 48.79 MM
The Concessions Law (Law # 8,987/1995) turned 30 on Thursday (13), consolidating its role as a milestone for the modernization of the transportation sector in Brazil. One of the main advances provided by the legislation is in airport infrastructure. Since 2011, the private sector has taken over the management of federal airports and concessionaires accounted for 67.2% of the BRL 48.79 billion invested in airport infrastructure, while the federal government was responsible for 32.8% of this total. This and other relevant data are gathered in the new edition of the Partnerships Series: The Provision of Transportation Infrastructure by the Private Sector – Airports, launched by the CNT (National Confederation of Transportation). The study highlights significant achievements, such as the 57.7% increase in the number of takeoffs in the first year after the concessions and the improvement in passenger satisfaction: the average time between the first year of the concession and the maximum level of satisfaction perceived by passengers is 4.4 years. In addition, the study highlights the increase in operational efficiency of the airports under concession: the supply of seats per kilometer flown grew, on average, by 106%, while the demand for passengers per kilometer flown increased by 106.3%. These percentages reflect not only greater utilization of aircraft capacity, but also the consolidation of air transport as a competitive and modern alternative in Brazil. – https://www.aeroflap.com.br/investimentos-privados-em-infraestrutura-aeroportuaria-somam-r-4879-bilhoes/
