GRU Airport will receive environmental program to measure pollutants from ground service vehicles

Abesata (Brazilian Association of Air Transport Auxiliary Services Companies) entered into a partnership with Fetcesp (Federation of Cargo Transport Companies of the State of Sao Paulo) to implement an initiative that aims to measure the amount of pollutants emitted by ground service vehicles at Sao Paulo/Guarulhos International Airport (GRU Airport). The program is part of Despoluir – Environmental Transport Program, created by Fetcesp, and aims to evaluate the quality of smoke coming from the exhaust of trucks, buses, tractors, and other equipment used by ground handling companies. Abesata invited several companies such as Proair, WFS-Orbital, dnata, Swissport, Universal Aviation and Tristar, to join the project, at no additional cost to them. The results of data collection will be kept confidential and sent individually to each company, with monitoring by Fetcesp. Ricardo Aparecido Miguel, CEO of Abesata, commented on the importance of the initiative, “It is an action that has existed for a long time, but is unprecedented in the aeronautical sector. Knowing the pollutant levels of ground service companies is essential to implement adjustments and improvements that help preserve the environment.” He also highlighted the ground handling segment’s struggle to obtain financing and ensure fleet renewal, replacing old vehicles powered by fossil fuels with an electrified fleet. – https://aeroin.net/gru-airport-recebera-programa-ambiental-para-medir-poluentes-de-veiculos-de-servico-de-solo/
