Lufthansa Group is further expanding its fuel efficiency program
The Lufthansa Group is further expanding its fuel efficiency program, “OPS Sustainability”. The aim is to make the operational processes of all Lufthansa Group airlines more sustainable by increasing efficiency. Since 2022, more than 90 individual measures have helped save a total of around 54,000 tonnes of kerosene, thus permanently avoiding around 170,000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions. This is equivalent to the fuel consumption and CO₂ emissions of 640 round-trip flights on the Munich–New York route with an Airbus A350-900 aircraft. Now, new measures are being added: the company has set a target of avoiding around 50,000 additional tonnes of CO₂ annually across the group by the end of 2028, among other things, by using new digital tools and data-driven decision models. This corresponds to additional annual fuel savings of more than 15,200 tonnes. “We integrate sustainability where it has the most immediate impact: in the day-to-day operations of our airlines. Our OPS Sustainability program is already proving to deliver measurable efficiency gains and environmental improvements. At the same time, we are investing more than ever in state-of-the-art, highly fuel-efficient aircraft,” says Grazia Vittadini, Lufthansa Group Chief Technology Officer. – https://aeroin.net/grupo-lufthansa-esta-expandindo-ainda-mais-seu-programa-de-eficiencia-de-consumo-de-combustivel/
