The 1st airline in the world to fly with fuel made with solar energy will be Swiss

Swiss International Air Lines and the Lufthansa Group have concluded a strategic collaboration with ETH Zurich spin-off Synhelion to bring solar jet fuel to market. This will make SWISS the first airline in the world to use so-called “solar kerosene”. “Our partnership with Synhelion is based on our shared vision of making carbon neutral flight possible in regular flight operations through the use of solar fuel”, explains SWISS CEO Dieter Vranckx. “We are proud that SWISS will be the first airline in the world to fly on solar kerosene. In partnership with Synhelion, we are supporting Swiss innovation and actively pursuing and promoting the development, market introduction, and scale-up of this highly promising technology for the production of sustainable fuels.” “We believe in a globalized world connected by climate-friendly mobility”, adds Dr. Philipp Furler, co-founder and CEO of Synhelion. “Our next-generation carbon-neutral solar kerosene is an economically and ecologically viable substitute for fossil fuels. The commitment of SWISS and the Lufthansa Group highlights the great interest of the aviation sector in our solar fuel. And we are already looking forward to the day when the first SWISS aircraft takes off with our solar kerosene.” – https://aeroin.net/a-1a-empresa-aerea-no-mundo-a-voar-com-combustivel-feito-com-energia-solar-sera-a-swiss/
