Emirates flew with 100% sustainable fuel

Emirates flew its first flight using 100% sustainable fuel (SAF), the first of its kind in the Middle East and North Africa. The Boeing 777-300ER took off from Dubai and flew over the city’s coastline for over an hour. Sustainable fuel was used in one of the GE90 engines, while the other engine was fueled with conventional jet fuel. The test flight further proved the suitability of the specially blended SAF as a safe and reliable fuel source. Emirates’ initiative supports the industry’s collective efforts to enable sustainable fueled flights and helps advance the UAE’s sustainability goals, which have declared 2023 “the year of sustainability”.
