Certified the 1st carbon neutral airport (level 3+) in Brazil by ACI-LAC
The International Council of Airports in Latin America and the Caribbean (ACI-LAC) announced on December 5 that BH Airport – Belo Horizonte International Airport – Tancredo Neves, in Confins, MG, perated by the consortium formed by Grupo CCR, Zurich Airport, and Infraero has just become the first airport certified as carbon neutral in Brazil. The Minas Gerais terminal achieved certification by once again meeting the criteria of the Airport Carbon Accreditation (ACA) program, which has six levels of certification and is the only global accreditation and carbon emissions management program aimed at airports. To make carbon neutrality a reality, BH Airport demonstrated the use of electrical energy from 100% renewable sources. It also invested in the implementation of the 400Hz project (electrical energy) + PCA (air conditioning for aircraft). The CEO of BH Airport, Daniel Miranda, highlights, “This achievement shows our effective commitment to sustainability, especially with regard to gradual decarbonization actions, with clear objectives and targets to achieve carbon emissions neutrality. In recent weeks, we had already received the Green Airport seal, and all of this promote our position as the most sustainable airport in the country”. – https://aeroin.net/certificado-o-1o-aeroporto-neutro-em-carbono-nivel-3-do-brasil-pelo-aci-lac/
