Use of artificial intelligence is reducing food waste on KLM flights

In a bid to combat food waste and improve sustainability efforts, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines has successfully implemented artificial intelligence (AI) technology to optimize meal delivery on its flights. KLM has significantly reduced food waste by accurately predicting the number of passengers who will be on board each flight. According to Marjan Rintel, CEO of KLM, investments in digital technology, particularly AI, are paramount for the company, saving more than 100,000 kg of meals annually. The latest AI model, known as TRAYS, represents a milestone as the first model specifically adapted for KLM’s catering activities. Leveraging historical data, TRAYS predicts the number of passengers per flight, providing separate forecasts for different classes. From optimizing aircraft maintenance to improving operational efficiency during adverse weather conditions, AI plays a key role in streamlining processes and enhancing the customer experience. Personalized travel tips, generated through AI algorithms, further exemplify KLM’s commitment to utilizing technology for customer-centric solutions. – https://aeroin.net/uso-de-inteligencia-artificial-esta-reduzindo-desperdicio-de-alimentos-em-voos-da-klm/
