Ministry of Ports and Airports creates Working Group focused on sustainability in the airline sector

The Minister of Ports and Airports, Silvio Costa Filho, announced the creation of a working group focused on topics such as Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF). The announcement was made during the “Aviation of the Future” event, organized by Boeing and the Brazilian Association of Airlines (Abear), which discussed sustainability actions and goals in the airline sector. During the event, the best journalistic works were awarded with the “Aviation of the Future Journalism Award”, which recognizes reports on the decarbonization of the airline sector in Brazil. For the transition to a more sustainable aviation sector to occur, incentive policies are needed that make SAF competitive in terms of cost, allowing decarbonization without compromising the growth and democratization of air transport in Brazil. Silvio Costa Filho highlighted the Federal Government’s commitment to achieving sustainability goals with the creation of the working group to establish a permanent sustainable agenda in the sector. “Next week, we will publish an ordinance to create, on a permanent basis, this working group involving the Ministry of Ports and Airports, Brazil’s Civil Aviation Agency, Abear, and the Ministry of Mines and Energy, so that we can, jointly, create this permanent agenda for the sector”, he highlighted. – https://aeroin.net/ministerio-dos-portos-e-aeroportos-cria-grupo-de-trabalho-voltado-para-sustentabilidade-no-setor-aereo/
