DECEA reinforced air security during G20 with anti-drone technology and integrated actions

In support of airspace management and control actions during the G20 Summit, the Department of Airspace Control (DECEA) participated together with the Integrated Command and Control Center (CICC) of the State Secretariat of Military Police (SEPM) and the Anti-Drone Monitoring Center (CMA) of the Institutional Security Office of the Government of the State of Rio de Janeiro (GSI-RJ) and in partnership with the Federal Police Department (DPF). From November 14 to 20, military personnel from the Operations Subdepartment of DECEA and the Southeast Regional Airspace Control Center (CRCEA-SE) participated in strategic meetings at CICC, providing support to representatives of the Armed Forces, Intelligence, Public Security, and Regulatory Agencies sectors, with the forecast of authorized drone flights during the event in coordination with the Master Command and Control Room. The equipment installed by CMA enabled the detection of irregular unmanned aircraft, the location of drones and remote pilots, and the identification of drone models and serial numbers. With this information, the agencies jointly coordinated search, approach, and subsequent inspection actions, enabling the classification of air traffic violations provided for as administrative sanctions in the aeronautical sphere. “This integration with the Federal Police, the GSI-RJ, Public Security Agencies, and the Armed Forces reinforces our ability to act in highly complex situations, expanding our experience in the use of cutting-edge technologies and consolidating our role in the defense and control of Brazilian airspace”, highlighted Sergeant Aline Ribeiro, from CRCEA-SE.
