Congonhas Airport renews program to use more sustainable aircraft
In 2024, Congonhas Airport recorded a 17% increase in the share of flights carried out with more sustainable and quiet aircraft, such as the Boeing 737 Max, Airbus A320 Neo, and Embraer 195-E2 models. There was no increase in the overall total of operations. The advance is the result of Aena’s incentive program for airlines that operate more modern and efficient planes, in terms of fuel consumption and noise reduction. Launched by the concessionaire at the beginning of the year, the initiative benefits both the environment and the residents surrounding the aerodrome, located in the South Zone of Sao Paulo. Operations with these aircraft increased from 3,091 movements (landings and takeoffs) in November 2023 to 3,616 in October 2024. Currently, the use of these models already corresponds to more than 22% of the total commercial flights carried out at Congonhas Airport. In order to further expand sustainable aviation, Aena renewed the incentive program for the period from November 1, 2024 to October 31, 2025. The plan foresees an investment of BRL 2 million to reimburse 10% of the landing fee for these aircraft models, operated by the three main Brazilian airlines. – https://www.aeroflap.com.br/aeroporto-de-congonhas-renova-programa-para-uso-de-aeronaves-mais-sustentaveis/
