The airline industry has released a guide for the safe transportation of pets on aircraft

The International Air Transport Association (IATA), the Brazilian Airlines Association (ABEAR), the Latin American and Caribbean Air Transport Association (ALTA), and the Board of Representatives of Airlines in Brazil (JURCAIB) have released the “Guidelines for the Air Transportation of Dogs and Cats”. According to ABEAR, the document was developed based on the Code of Conduct established by Brazil’s Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC), based on IATA’s Live Animal Regulations. The guide is part of the Animal Air Transportation Plan (PATA) of the Ministry of Ports and Airports (MPOR) and contains safety criteria that must be applied at all stages of the air transportation of animals. The joint initiative of the main aviation associations highlights the importance of having all the information at hand to ensure a safer and more pleasant travel experience for guardians and pets. “The safe transportation of pets requires clear and consistent standards, which is why IATA’s Live Animal Regulations serve as the basis for providing these services worldwide. We are committed to ensuring that all stages of air transportation prioritize safety, animal welfare, and the peace of mind of pet owners, reinforcing IATA’s role as a global reference for aviation regulations and best practices”, said Peter Cerdá, IATA’s Regional Vice President for the Americas. “The launch of this guide symbolizes the synergy between industry entities, the federal government, and consumers, who will now have an easily accessible document with guidelines for the transportation of pets. Operational safety is a fundamental principle of air transport, and the guide reinforces this commitment by considering all aspects of animal welfare. The information presented in the guide includes guidance on the appropriate selection of containers, airline policies, and the process of preparing pets for flight. The guide also addresses essential care during travel, such as feeding, hydration, and stress management, in addition to providing detailed information on regulations and necessary documentation. – https://aeroin.net/lancado-pelo-setor-aereo-um-guia-para-transporte-seguro-de-animais-de-estimacao-em-aeronaves/
