Air Canada indicates Fortaleza and Rio de Janeiro as likely new destinations for future expansion
Air Canada may in the future begin operations in Brazil outside of the capital of Sao Paulo, with Fortaleza and Rio de Janeiro being the main candidates. During a presentation to investors held yesterday, the Canadian airline detailed its future fleet and route plans, which include ultra-long-haul flights (over 14 hours in duration). While the most distant destinations were not revealed, the company gave indications that it intends to increase its capacity in Latin America, which currently represents 10% of the seats offered by the Canadian company. In a map included in the presentation, Air Canada listed the Brazilian cities of Fortaleza and Rio de Janeiro as “opportunities for international growth”. These cities are listed alongside Lima and Dakar, which should be the southernmost destinations that the company intends to operate with the new Airbus A321XLR. It is worth noting that Air Canada made it clear that “the cities shown are illustrative and the operation there is subject to a robust financial and operational analysis”. Therefore, any intended date for the start of new routes has not been disclosed by the company. – https://aeroin.net/air-canada-indica-fortaleza-e-rio-de-janeiro-como-provaveis-novos-destinos-em-expansao-futura/
