At Brasilia Airport, MPor launches national campaign “Assédio não Decola” to combat harassment at airports
The Ministry of Ports and Airports (MPor) announces that it launched the national campaign “Assédio não Decola” on August 12th at Juscelino Kubitschek International Airport in Brasilia, DF, to combat harassment at Brazilian airports and raise awareness among passengers and professionals on how to identify, prevent, and report this type of violence. The event was attended by Minister Silvio Costa Filho, officials from the Ministries of Women and Human Rights, representatives of concessionaires, and civil society. According to Costa Filho, this is a pedagogical and educational campaign, with the participation of various federal government agencies, concessionaires, and civil society organizations, in defense of Brazilian women. “Our campaign is focused on respect for Brazilian women. We want to ensure that everyone can travel safely and with dignity, because harassment is a no-go. We always say that a woman’s place is wherever she wants, and this is especially true for Brazil’s airports. This campaign is a historic milestone for society, and we hope to count on all Brazilians,” he stated. The Executive Secretary of the Ministry of Women, Eutália Barbosa Rodrigues Naves, also highlighted the importance of the campaign aimed at the airline industry and celebrated the dissemination of the Dial 180 hotline in all areas. “The month of August is emblematic for us, as it marks the enactment of the Maria da Penha Law and is nationally recognized as ‘Purple August,’ a period dedicated to raising awareness and combating violence against women. Being present at the launch of this campaign is extremely important, especially because airports are high-traffic spaces where, unfortunately, cases of violence and harassment still occur.” The campaign has been publicized since August 6 by 12 airport concessionaires and 57 airports on their official channels, with a focus on social media. – – https://aeroin.net/no-aeroporto-de-brasilia-mpor-lanca-campanha-nacional-assedio-nao-decola-para-combater-o-assedio-nos-aeroportos/
