Chamber Committee approves project that exempts fees for planes that transport organs for transplant

On August 15, the Chamber of Deputies’ Road and Transport Committee approved Bill 1878/25, which guarantees exemption from airport taxes for private aircraft that transport organs for transplantation and medical teams. The proposal is from deputy Rodrigo Valadares (Uniao-SE). The exemptions will cover landing, stay, and apron fees charged by airports. The Executive Branch must prepare a regulation dealing with the registration of participants and the operation of the service, in addition to the reimbursement of costs by the Brazil’s Health System (SUS) – as is already the case with private companies and the Brazilian Air Force (FAB). The rapporteur, deputy Marangoni (Uniao-SP), was in favor of the project. According to him, Brazil has the largest transplant program in the world, but faces logistical difficulties due to its territorial extension. “Around 30% of organs intended for transplantation are lost due to lack of speed in transportation, especially between distant states,” he stated. “Private aviation can help improve these rates.” The project will now be analyzed, conclusively, by the Finance and Taxation, and Constitution and Justice and Citizenship (CCJ) committees. To become law, the proposal must be approved by the Chamber and the Senate. – https://aeroin.net/comissao-da-camara-aprova-projeto-que-isenta-taxas-de-avioes-que-transportam-orgaos-para-transplante/
