Demand for air cargo grows 5.6% in January 2026, according to IATA
The International Air Transport Association (IATA) released global air cargo market data for January 2026, showing a 5.6% growth in total demand, measured in cargo ton-kilometers (CTK), compared to the same period of the previous year. International operations showed an even more significant increase of 7.2%. Available capacity, measured in ton-kilometers (ACTK), registered an increase of 3.6%, with a 5.7% rise in international operations. Willie Walsh, IATA’s Director General, highlighted that “demand for air cargo had a robust start to 2026, with growth of 5.6% in January. However, regional performance is uneven: companies from Africa, the Middle East, Asia-Pacific, and Europe outperformed the global average, while those from the Americas registered a contraction.” – https://aeroin.net/demanda-por-carga-aerea-cresce-56-em-janeiro-de-2026-aponta-iata/#google_vignette
