Five sustainable aviation fuel plants to be certified by Honeywell
Honeywell has entered into a new agreement with BP (British Petroleum) for the implementation of EcofiningTM technology, which will support the production of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) at five of the company’s facilities around the world. In this way, BP facilities will produce certified SAF, which meets international standards and can be used as a direct substitute for fossil fuel, without the need for modifications to aircraft engines. Honeywell UOP Ecofining technology will be installed at the following BP facilities: Cherry Point refinery in Blaine, Wash.; Rotterdam II Refinery in Rotterdam, Netherlands; Lingen refinery in Lower Saxony, Germany; Castellón de la Plana Refinery in Castellón, Spain, and Kwinana Oil Refinery in Kwinana, Australia. “BP has a strong global biofuels business, strategically positioned to grow rapidly with the support of Honeywell technology. With global demand for SAF projected to increase significantly, BP is committed to playing a crucial role in helping airlines decarbonize”, said Nigel Dunn, Senior Vice President, Biofuels Growth at BP. Ecofining is a proven, off-the-shelf technology that has a streamlined design and offers BP a cost-effective solution for increasing its SAF production from renewable sources. Currently, the technology can be used in blends of up to 50% SAF with the remainder as conventional aviation fuel. This will help BP meet its target of supplying 20% of the SAF market globally by 2030. – https://aeroin.net/cinco-plantas-de-combustivel-sustentavel-de-aviacao-serao-certificadas-pela-honeywell/
