More than 4 thousand tons of CO2 were offset in South America in partnership between LATAM and Siemens
The LATAM Group and Siemens report that they offset 4,296 tons of CO2, which is equivalent to more than 64,000 urban trees absorbing carbon over 10 years, in a joint effort to promote sustainable practices in the corporate travel industry. According to the airline, this is due to the fact that Siemens South America decided to compensate for one year all the CO2 generated on its corporate flights, corresponding to 12 thousand flights originating from Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru, through of the 1+1 Offset to Preserve program, from the LATAM group. In this way, Siemens offset a total of 2,148 tons of CO2 in the region, an amount that was completed up to 4,296 tons with the contribution of the LATAM group which, within the scope of its sustainability program, remains committed to doubling the contribution made in order to generate a greater impact. The contribution of both companies will benefit projects of high environmental and social value that seek to conserve strategic ecosystems in South America. The projects correspond to: “CO2Bio” in Colombia, “Parque Eólico Cururos” in Chile and “Manejo Florestal Comunitário Nii Kaniti” in Ucayali, Peru. “The magnitude of the climate change problem requires everyone’s effort. Therefore, we greatly value Siemens’ commitment that allows us to promote more sustainable practices in the corporate travel industry in South America. We hope this inspires other organizations to take concrete steps to promote the conservation of our region’s ecosystems and continue to create alliances that allow us to have an even greater impact in the future”, says Andreas Schek, Vice President of Sales and Branding at LATAM Airlines Group. – https://aeroin.net/mais-de-4-mil-toneladas-de-co2-foram-compensadas-na-america-do-sul-em-parceria-da-latam-com-a-siemens/
